Wolves swept in Wapello

WAPELLO - The Winfield-Mt. Union basketball teams were swept in a SEISC North Division doubleheader on Friday night. The girls' team fell 50-36 and the boys dropped their game 52-12.

The girls trailed 19-5 after one quarter and 33-16 at halftime. The Wolves outscored the Arrows 20-17 in the second half, but the damage had already been done.

Jenna Buffington had 12 points, 11 rebounds and four steals in the loss. Liana Sweezer had 10. Jobey Malone scored seven. Kyndal Townsley, Carlee Sloan and Molly Miller finished the night with two points apiece, and Farrah Nelson had one.

The boys' team had a tough time in their game. They scored three points in each quarter, and Wapello led 12-3 after the first quarter, 29-6 at halftime and 41-9 after three quarters.

W-MU will be back in action tonight (Tuesday). They'll host West Burlington in a girl-boy doubleheader.
