Women outscored in final minutes, men give up winning goal in overtime

FAYETTE, MO. ? Central Methodist University used a late scoring outburst in the women?s match and a long free kick in overtime of the men?s match to defeat the Iowa Wesleyan College soccer teams Wednesday night in non-conference play.
The Tiger women lost 3-0 as the Eagles scored three goals in the final 11:45 of the match. The IWC men lost yet another tough one as well, falling 2-1 in overtime for their third consecutive one-goal loss to start the season.
The men?s match was decided 1:07 into overtime when Brendon Boucaud of Central Methodist scored on a free kick from close to midfield.
Caio Costa scored the goal for IWC in the 27th minute, with an assist from Walton Ponce.
The Iowa Wesleyan men will play their home opener on Saturday when they host the William Woods (Mo.) University Owls at 2 p.m. at East Lake Park. Both the men?s and women?s teams will then host Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) University on Tuesday at East Lake, with the women?s match at 2 p.m. and the men?s match to follow at 4 p.m.
