Wrestling sectionals this weekend

The 2022 Iowa high school wrestling sectionals will be held this Saturday. The area has five Class 2A teams and seven Class 1A teams competing.

In Class 2A, Fairfield, Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union and Mid-Prairie will be at Benton. Other teams in that sectional (2A Sectional 15) are hosting Benton Community, Mount Vernon and Williamsburg.

Mt. Pleasant and Washington will be at Solon for Class 2A Sectional 16. The Panthers and Demons are joined by Keokuk, Notre Dame/West Burlington/Danville, the hosting Solon Spartans and West Liberty.

All Union coverage area 2A teams are looking to advance to Williamsburg one week later.

In Class 1A, English Valleys will play host to Sectional 13, which includes Highland and WACO. Also in that sectional are Lisbon, Lone Tree, Louisa-Muscatine, Iowa City Regina and Wapello. Sigourney (Sectional 14) will be the home site of Cardinal, New London, Pekin, Sigourney-Keota and Van Buren County. Also in that sectional are Mediapolis, Moravia and North Mahaska.

All of the area’s Class 1A teams will be looking to get to the district tournament at Wapello next week.
