Wright wins two events at state meet

Pekin seventh-graders Taylor Reynolds and Shea Dahlstrom and eighth-grader Gwynne Wright competed in the Iowa Association of Track Coaches State Middle School Meet held Saturday at Waukee High School.
The small school classes were made up of all Class 1A and 2A schools, and the large school classes were made up of Class 3A and 4A schools. Dahlstrom and Reynolds finished 10th among 31 schools in the small school team standings with 19 points. Alone, Gwynne finished third in the team standings with 36 points; 34 teams were represented in the eighth-grade field.
Dahlstrom placed third in the small school seventh-grade 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:49. She also placed seventh in the long jump (13?3?), 10th in the 800 (2:52.9) and 12th in the 400 (1:09.57).
Reynolds finished third in the 400-dash (1:06.07) and third in the 200 (30.15), and she concluded the day with a sixth-place finish in the open-800 (2:49.5).
Wright was the eighth-grade small school champion in the 1,500 (5:11) and 800 (2:29.01), and she finished runner-up in the long jump (15?7?) and the 400 (62.17).
