NORTH ENGLISH — Less than one week after winning in Fairfield, Hillcrest Academy’s Marie Yoder was back in the winning circle. This time, Yoder took the top spot at the English Valleys cross-country Invitational.
The Ravens’ sophomore star finished the race in 20 minutes, 57.10 seconds, beating second-place Anna Luers of English Valleys by just over one full minute. That helped Hillcrest take second as a team, scoring 50 points.
The Ravens had two more runners in the Top-16. Siena Stanerson and Rya Scott finished ninth and 16th respectively.
WACO’s Elyssa Graber and Josie Dkystra each crossed the line in the Top-15. Graber finished 12th, and Dykstra wasn’t far behind her, in 14th. The Warriors didn’t have enough runners to score as a team.
In the boys’ race, WACO’s Jude Dykstra was all lone in second, crossing in 18:18 to take silver by over 38 seconds. Gavin Slagel wasn’t far behind his teammate, taking ninth. Tristan Juitjens and Keiren Luitjens finished 23rd and 25th respectively.
Hillcrest had two runners in the Top-15 in the boys’ race. Micah Gerber took 12th, and Jesse Blossom finished 15th. Isaac Beachy finished in 22nd.
