Zieglowsky leads area bowlers at SEC championship

FAIRFIELD - The Southeast Conference held its conference bowling tournament over the weekend, and although the Union coverage aread didn't take home any team or individual titles, there was plenty to be happy about amongst the area's teams.
In the boys tournament, Keokuk took home first place with a final pinfall of 3,003. Fairfield was second, at 2,901. Burlington took third, at 2,551. Mt. Pleasant placed fourth, at 2,328, and Washington was fifth, at 1,800.
The Keokuk girls made it a sweep with a 2,947 to take the girls team title. Burlington scored a 2134 for second. Fairfield was third, at 2,110. Washington finished fourth, at 2,080, and Mt. Pleasant took fifth, at 2,036. Note that Ft. Madison does not have a bowling team.
Washington's Ethan Zieglowsky was the top bowler in the Union coverage area. He rolled a 462 to finish second place in the boys' standings, by just one pin. Keokuk's Reese Krebill won the conference championship with a 463.
Fairfield's Ben Johnson and Drake Rippey joined Zieglowsky on First-Team All-Conference. Johnson was third, with a 419, and Rippey finished fifth, at 411.
Threee Union area bowlers made Second-Team All-SEC. Fairfield's Jacob Scotton rolled a 375 for 10th place. Drake Schluetter of Washington was right behind him, with a 373, and Fairfield's Chance Swan took 12th, at 355.
Just one area bowler finished in the top six in the girls standings. Alexis Wohlleber made First-Team All-SEC with a score of 341, two pins above seventh. Rachel Moore of Keokuk won the conference with a 477.
Three area girls bowlers landed on the All-SEC second team. Fairfield's Karen Ehret was eighth, with a 328. RylieSwart of Washington finished ninth, at 325, and Sophie Mineart was 11th, at 116.
