Zieglowsky leads Demons to split
Washington baseball team uses 11-run 5th to beat Keokuk in Game 2

KEOKUK — With their backs against the wall in Game 2 on Monday in Keokuk, the Washington baseball team had its best inning of the season.
Down 6-1 with only three innings remaining, the Demons rattled off 11 runs in the fifth inning, which led Washington to a 15-11 Game 2 win. Keokuk had beaten Washington 7-2 in Game 1.
In Game 1, the Chiefs built a 7-0 lead before the Demons could get on the board. Washington scored two runs in the sixth.
Caleb Zieglowsky went 2-for-2 tih two doubles and an RBI in the loss. Conner Leyden went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
In Game 2, Zieglowsky powered the Demon rally by going 3-for-5 with a home run and six RBIs. Blayze Richardson was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Kael Williams went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Mason Morgan was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Luke Beenblossom threw three innings in relief to pick up the win on the mound. He gave up five runs (three earned) on two hits nd four walks, while striking out three.
Washington moved to 3-12 overall and 2-7 in Southeast Conference play with the split.
