Nelson Smith of Brighton was visted by four friends from Jamesville, Wisconsin. They spent Sept. 24-27 in Brighton. They helped Caryl Smith, Nelson’s mother, also of Brighton, by cutting down some trees and cleaning up her yard.

Bob Shelangoski of Brighton attended the wedding of his granddaughter on Sept. 28. Felicia, daughter of Bob and Robin Schulty, of Wellman, married Austin Laed of Pella. They were married in Newton.

Pat Remington, of Brighton, was visited by her daughter, Brandi Poli, of Waukee, Sept. 27-29. They were joined by Pat’s daughter Angela Garmoe, with James and Christopher, of Mt. Pleasant, on Sept. 28. Christopher stayed the night in Brighton. Brandy left early Sunday morning. Angela returned to Brighton that afternoon with James to pick up Christopher.

Mary Boatright, of Fairfield, was honored for her birthday Sept. 29. Her husband, Joel, planned the party. It was held at the home of her mother, Winifred Fritz, in Brighton. Others present included Mary’s children and grandson: Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield and J.D. and Becky Hollingsworth with Noah of Packwood. They were joined by Mary’s siblings: Joe and Lori Fritz with Sophia, Tony and Lynn Fritz, all of Brighton. Greg and Deb Fritz and their daughter Trisha Copeland, with Kellen and Madden, Jane and Virgil Symmonds, all of Fairfield, Lucy and Matt Dietzman with Brenden and Malcolm of Keosauqua, and Charles and Debi Fritz of Sigourney. After the meal, Mary was presented with three birthday cakes.
