Chapter AQ P.E.O.

Chapter AQ P.E.O. of Brighton met at the home of Joyce Wilson Tuesday evening, Nov. 12.

President, Rose Jaynes led the meeting. Project reports were given. Joyce Wilson and Sarah Robison presented interesting reports about the P.E.O. women who were part of the Red Cross during World War I and World War II. These Red Cross/P.E.O. sisters were called the “Donut Dollies” because they drove club mobiles to serve coffee and homemade doughnuts to soldiers in the war zone.

A detailed history of P.E.O.s in wartime is found in the new pictorial history book, “We Who Are Sisters.” This was a fitting report as a tribute to Veterans and Veterans Day. The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship Fund, established in 1949, fosters peace through education. Following project reports, a social time was held and refreshments were served by the hostess.
