Crawfordsville news: Lions Club meets

The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday evening, November 23, 2020 at 7 p.m. in Crawfordsville Community Room with 11 members present.

In the absence of the president, 1st Vice President Gene Miller called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion LarryFletcher gave the opening prayer.

The minutes of the November 9, 2020 meeting were approved as read. There was no treasurer’s report.

Old Business: Logistics for the Christmas Drawing on December 19 were discussed. It was decided to call it the “Christmas Gift Give-away” in place of the Annual Christmas Drawing. Cards will be mailed to community members and they will be instructed to pull into the alley on the west side of the United Church of Crawfordsville from the north and proceed to the south. They will present their cards to a Lions member who will then give them their gift. All this will be done with community members remaining in their cars to respect social distancing. Lion Gene Miller distributed a plan for the afternoon, with jobs for club members. Santa will have treats for the children near the church carport. As the 4-H club will not be having their bake sale, it was moved, seconded and approved to donate the $100 Grand Prize to the 4-H club.

New Business: Lion Joel Greene was honored with the District Governor’s Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service to Lions in District 9SE during the 2020-2021 year at the Special Fall State Convention for his work on the Christmas Drawing.

The Christmas party will be held December 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Crawfordsville Community Room. This will be a Pizza Party for Lion members only.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. Tail Twister Larry Fletcher entertained with some interesting number quizzes.

Delicious refreshments were served by Jennie Greene and Larry Love.
