Fairfield library hosting Foreign Affairs roundtable Thursday

The Fairfield Public Library will host a Foreign Affairs roundtable in person and via Zoom from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday.

“The Party (CCP) That Failed: An Insider Breaks With Beijing” is a 14-page article in the latest Foreign Affairs Magazine and the focus of the discussion. The author is Cai Xia, a former Professor at the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party from 1998 to 2012. This essay was translated from the Chinese by Stacy Mosher.

Articles are chosen to provide significant background about a current international relations issue affecting American foreign policy. John Beghtol, former history teacher of the year and member of the Academy of Political Science, serves as moderator. To ensure that everyone has time to contribute to the discussion, group size is limited to 10 people. Register for this free session by calling the front desk, and a free copy of the article will be delivered to your curbside vehicle.

The library can accommodate in-person attendance for up to six people in the meeting room, and will also host this event via Zoom for those who prefer to attend remotely. The meeting room has its own separate air handler, and the library has installed an Austin Air purifier in the room.

If you choose to attend via Zoom, the library recommends downloading the latest version of the app prior to login to get the best audio and video experience. Login to your free Zoom account and click JOIN A MEETING in the upper right corner of your screen. When prompted, enter the Meeting ID 837 4053 0631 and the Passcode 416117.
