Each school month, the Fairfield Elks Lodge sponsors the Fairfield Middle School “Students of the Month” award to acknowledge positive contributions of students at school.

The Students of the Month certificates are awarded after a nomination and voting process is completed by each grade-level teaching team.

The students honored in September were:

Fifth-grader Luke Thornton, whose certificate states “He is a very responsible student and is always thinking ahead. He puts his best effort into his work and is always willing to help his classmates in times of need.”

Fifth-grader Jamie Martin’s certificate states she “has had a great start to the year. She is a hard worker in class and is always putting forth her best effort. She is kind and caring to other students in our class. Jamie is a great example of what Trojan PRIDE should look like.”

Sixth-grader Iris Lane’s certificate states she “displays a great work ethic and attitude, striving to do her best at all times. Iris is a quiet leader in the classroom and is willing to help her classmates as well as any adult that needs help.”

Sixth-grader Colt Boyles’s certificate states he “is always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone in class. He always brings a positive energy and smile to class! He is doing a phenomenal job transitioning to a new school.”

Seventh-grader Dominick Wallace’s certificate states he is “a hard-working student ... Not only is he hard-working, but he is focused and takes his learning seriously. Dominick enters class each day ready to learn by asking great questions to improve his understanding. In addition to asking questions, he pairs himself with students that he knows he will work well with to have a positive learning experience. In all, Dominick is a student that the team can depend on with his great attitude and effort.”

Seventh-grader Alex Heckethorn’s certificate states he “is curious about his learning; he asks great questions and is not afraid to share his thinking. He also is a friendly person, showing a positive attitude, with a smile on his face; this makes him a presentable leader. In addition, he treats his classmates with kindness and respect and works well in all groups. In all, Alex is a student that is willing to take risks and not afraid to make mistakes.”

Eighth-grader Cheyenne Sinn’s certificate states she “has shown awesome Trojan PRIDE the start of this school year. She has been a leader in and out of the classroom. She helped out a sub when a teacher was gone and went around to her classmates to have them sign a get well soon card for one of their peers. The 8th grade team has seen her take initiative to get all of her work done on time and even go above and beyond to help others in the classroom. She always has a positive attitude and works hard!”

Eighth-grader Alex McDow’s certificate states he “is hardworking and shows integrity both in and out of the classroom. The team can count on Alex to be a positive, reliable leader at all times. He comes to class ready to learn and with all materials ready.”
