Jefferson County marks beginning of '40 Days for Life'

Jefferson County Right to Life will mark the beginning of the Fall 2020 Campaign of 40 Days for Life on Wednesday, September 23rd, by placing memorial crosses for the unborn on the lawn of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1601 S. Main Street in Fairfield, at 5:30 p.m.

According to the organization, “40 Days for Life began in College Station, Texas, in 2004. It is a campaign of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and community outreach to end abortion. Since 2004, over 17,000 babies have been saved worldwide from abortion, 104 abortion facilities have closed their doors, and 196 abortion workers have left their jobs.”

The community is invited to come help place the crosses. Attendees are asked to wear gloves, bring a hammer, and plan to stay for a short program on adoption. A diaper drive is being held in conjunction with marking the beginning of 40 Days. Attendees are asked to bring a package of disposable diapers, which will be donated to Heartland Pregnancy Center of Ottumwa. Any questions, call Karen Crossland at 641/919-9037.
