United Methodist Women met May 10

The Washington United Methodist Women met on May 10 at the church.

Hostess for the lunch was Oma Munn. Sixteen members attended. Ilene Schnicker gave the devotions using James 2:26. It was announced that help is needed by the Quilting Group, which meets the first and third Mondays. Help is also needed for the Saturday kitchen on June 8.

The next meeting will be a 5:30 p.m. in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the United Methodist Women on June 14. Help is appreciated to bring a salad or casserole.

The program was given by Karen McCreedy. She told and displayed her Good Samaritan Project of knitted stocking hats and prayer shawls. She has sent several hundred to many schools in Iowa wherever she has a contact. Many have also gone to local schools. She learned about this project from her mother. She proceeded to tell of many things that her family did; for instance: one year they each wrote a letter to their mother which was printed in a book to be given at Christmas. There were about 40 letters in the book. She related several interesting items and stories about the family to bind them together. Her mother passed away in 2014 and was over 104 years old. She was known for spending her life giving and donating her time and raising a large family of volunteers.
