STOCKPORT - A Stockport man was arrested Saturday and charged with involuntary manslaughter and delivery of methamphetamine of less than 5 grams.
Deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Lee Brown, whose charges stem from an investigation carried out by the Fairfield Police Department into the July 31 death of Dustin Canaday in Fairfield. Brown is alleged to have provided the victim with a preloaded syringe of methamphetamine, which he referred to as “thick,” and which the victim used, according to a news release from the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office.
The news release states that, a short time afterward, Brown allegedly mixed and provided Canaday with what he referred to as an “Alka-Seltzer shot” which was methamphetamine mixed with Alka-Seltzer, which Canaday drank. Canaday fell ill and became unresponsive. A person called 9-1-1, and Canaday was pronounced dead at the Jefferson County Health Center.
Autopsy results indicate the cause of his death was acute methamphetamine toxicity.
Brown is being held in the Jefferson County Jail.
