Henry County sees first COVID-19 death

New cases confirmed in Washington and Jefferson Counties

Henry County now has its first death due to COVID-19.

On Saturday, 87 new cases were confirmed in Iowa according to the Iowa Department of Public Health. The IDPH has also announced there are three new deaths.

One of the deaths is a middle-aged adult (aged 41-60) in Henry County. The other individuals are from Linn and Polk County (both aged 61-80.)

There were no new cases in Henry County as of Saturday. Henry County has had six positive cases of COVID-19 so far.

New cases have popped up in Washington and Jefferson Counties as well. Washington County identified four new cases on Saturday, bringing the total up to 47 cases overall. Jefferson County saw one new case, bringing its total number up to three.

According to IDPH, there have been a total of 9,454 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygenic Lab and other labs.
