Washington County residents who subscribe to Kalona Cooperative Technology Company (KCTC) for landline use do not currently have service.
At approximately 10:40 on Thursday morning, the Washington County Communications Center was made aware of the issue. Those customers are unable to dial 911. Anyone with an emergency is encouraged to use a cellular phone to dial 911. This method has been tested and works, according to the communications center.
The cause and duration of the outage are unknown at this time. KCTC personnel are currently working on fixing the issue.
