MT. PLEASANT — The Mi Pueblo Real Bar & Grill was cited for serving alcohol to minors on Wednesday.
A spot check was conducted at the restaurant located at 1106 East Baker street after several reports surfaced of high school students being served alcohol on a regular basis, a news release from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department states.
The officers watched several underage adults be served. The adults were later identified as being under the age of 21.
Officers learned from the underage patrons this was a common occurrence and the server and restaurant were both cited for supplying alcohol to minors, according to the release.
The investigation was a result of concerned citizens calling in suspicious activity and the Mt. Pleasant Police are asking citizens to call in suspicious activity in the future. Spot checks will be done anytime a complaint is received and businesses that serve alcohol are encouraged to remind staff to always check for a legal ID.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
