PAWS and More Animal Shelter in Washington is raising money while helping people with the holiday shopping.
For the past two weeks, PAWS has been holding an online auction to raise money for the shelter.
“It’s an annual fundraiser that we do,” PAWS Director Amber Talbot said. “All of the items were donated by local businesses and other supporters.”
The auction features about 100 items.
There are a variety of gift baskets, as well as a number of other items like a four-camera security system, jewelry, wireless headsets and a Riverside Casino getaway.
“If anyone wants some last-minute Christmas gifts, they can make a bid,” Talbot said. “There’s something for everybody.
“It’s a great way to help out a good cause.”
The auction can be found on the PAWS & More Animal Shelter Facebook page.
All of the items are listed with photos.
“People can view the bids in the comments, and make a bid there,” Talbot said. “It’s super easy.”
Bidding ends at 11:59 p.m., Dec. 2.
Talbot said that this year is the biggest auction that the shelter has had.
“Last year, we made just under $3,000,” she said. “The bids this year are already over $3,000.”
Talbot said that the shelter’s other usual holiday fundraiser, the holiday open house, will not be happening this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“People usually brought all sorts of donations to our holiday open house,” she said. “We’re worried we won’t get as many donations.”
She said she hopes that people will still consider bringing donations to the shelter.
“They can just ring our doorbell and bring their Christmas donations,” Talbot said, adding that the biggest needs are toys and canned dog and cat food. “We need support now more than ever.”
People can also go to PawsAndMoreWashington.org and donate via PayPal or purchasing items from their Amazon Smile list.
