WASHINGTON — There still is time left to participate in Washington’s annual chair-a-thon, a fundraiser with the goal of raising money for a community mural.

The Washington Chamber of Commerce and LET’s Center for the Healing and Creative Arts have teamed to co-sponsor the event. The fundraiser is replacing the Totally Tubular Auction that has been held the past five years.

Repurpose It has partnered with the Chamber to be a one-stop-shop for paint kits, according to a news release. The community is encouraged to find a chair that could use some love and use their creative abilities to transform it.

The finished products have been and will continue to be displayed downtown throughout the month of July. On Saturday, Aug. 1, an auction will be held at the State Theater at 10 a.m. The proceeds from the auction will go toward the funding for a future community mural.

Orders for paint kits can be placed by calling Repurpose it at: 319-653-2287.
