The Jefferson County Trails Council is inviting the public to “put on their detective caps” and participate in this year’s scavenger hunt.
The Jefferson County Trails system will play host to this all-ages event from May 23 to July 3, 2020. Participants will collect clues at 10 locations along the trail to be entered in a drawing for four $50
Fairfield Chamber Bucks and one $100 gift certificate to The Ride: Bike Sales and Service.
Drawings for prizes will take place via Facebook Live the evening of July 3 during Fairfield First Fridays.
This year marks the 5th Annual Scavenger Hunt on the Jefferson County Trails system. As a nod to this anniversary, this year’s Scavenger Hunt has a theme of “Wood Extravaganza.”
Participants will find noteworthy trees, and other items of timber origins along the trail system.
“This event is a great way to get out and see all the trails Fairfield and Jefferson County have to offer,” stated a news release from the trails council.
The format of this year’s hunt has been altered slightly due to the coronavirus. To eliminate the need of touching orange hole punches, participants will be looking for green placards containing
the answer to the clue. The Jefferson County Trails Council asks participants to maintain social distancing recommendations when hunting.
Participants can pick up scavenger hunt punch cards at The Ride: Bike Sales and Service (123 North Court Street), trailhead kiosks, Fairfield Recreation Center, and MIU Recreation Center.
Completed punch cards should be returned to The Ride: Bike Sales and Service or mailed to the Jefferson County Trails Council (P.O. Box 2375 Fairfield, IA 52556).
