Washington man arrested, facing 11 charges

WASHINGTON — A man was arrested after refusing to stop, driving while under suspension and two counts of speeding among other charges early Monday morning.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office media report, at approximately 1:33 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle in the 200th block of Riverside Road. The driver refused to stop and additional personnel responded.

The vehicle eventually stopped at West Sixth Street and North Avenue D where William Braxton McCarroll, 24, of Washington, was arrested for an OWI, interfering with official acts, driving while under suspension, driving 120 mph in a 55 mph zone, driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone, eluding, a stop sign violation, failure to maintain control, reckless driving, public intoxication and an open container, according to the report.

Seth Michael Deatsch, 20, of Rock Rapids was also arrested for public intoxication. The vehicle was towed and will be held until a release is approved by the sheriff’s department personnel, the release states.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
