Opening weekend at the Washington Steele Family Aquatic Center saw a steady flow of pool-goers.

The pool opened to the public lat Friday, and Samantha Van Houten, aquatic director, said the weekend was slow and steady.

Days are split into two shifts one from 1-3:30 p.m. and the second from 4-7 p.m. The 30 minutes in between are used to clean the facility.

Van Houten said the cleaning has gone well. The lifeguards pull all the chairs and disinfect them, along with disinfecting the bathrooms. Van Houten said there have not been many issues with social distancing,

Van Houten expects this year’s attendance will be lower than previous years as individuals have bought their own pools and the season had a late start.
