Wayland resident arrested and charged in sexual abuse case

60-year-old Wayland resident, Terry Hesser, was arrested and charged on Sept. 12 with four counts of sexual abuse, two counts of lascivious acts with a child and one count of incest. According to a news release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the arrest was made following an investigation into an alleged sexual abuse case that began on Aug. 27.

Henry County Sheriff Rich McNamee confirmed that there is only one victim involved with the case. The victim currently lives in Ohio. McNamee confirmed the sexual abuse incident occurred in July and had taken place Henry County.

McNamee also noted that his office was contacted by the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The agency had been alerted of the case by its Ohio counterpart, the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. On the news release, the office also noted that the Wooster Police Department in Ohio also assisted in the investigation.

Hesser made his first court appearance in front of a magistrate on Sept. 13.
