SIGOURNEY — The Sigourney-Keota rushing attack ground out 439 yards Friday in a 56-14 victory over Lynville-Sully Friday.
The Cobras gained another 140 yards and two touchdowns on 3 of 4 passes.
“We got our run game established at the end of the first quarter and continued to ground and pound and then found the air which kept Lynville-Sully on their toes,” SK coach Jared Jensen said. “We were effective and efficient with both.
JD Stout had a big night, compiling 187 yards and four TDs on the ground and catching one pass for 58 yards and a TD. Sam Sieren finished with 119 yards rushing and a TD. Brady Duwa added 76 yards and a score on just four carries and hauled in a touchdown catch of 64 yards. Cade Molyneux threw two passes, both for touchdowns.
“Defensively, our line continued to dominate in the trenches, causing fumble recoveries and getting enough pressure to compile three interceptions,” Jensen said. “Our offensive and defensive lines were the difference. Any time you can dominate the line of scrimmage the way these guys are doing it makes it easier on everyone else. Defensively, we had a good outing by a host of Cobras, but takeaways were huge,” jensen said. “Our entire defense deserves a lot of credit on how well they have been playing.”
The Cobras play at Albia Friday. Albia (0-2) lost 55-14 to Chariton.
