Demons end season at Benton

BENTON — The Washington Demon volleyball team closed out its season Tuesday with a Class 4A postseason loss to Benton Community 3-0.

The Bobcats notched the win 25-14, 25-6, 25-10 to up their record to 11-24 and advance to play No. 5 Western Dubuque (22-10) tonight. Washington ends the year with a 4-20 ledger.

Remy Messinger and Emma Nichols combined for 10 assists to their Demon teammates to complement Olivia Marek’s four kills. Alex Murphy, Kenializ Espinosa and Messinger connected on two kills apiece.

The Washington defense saw Keira Messinger dig 18 attacks and Murphy had a block. Remy Messinger had 11 digs and Nichols eight. Taylor Brinning had six.

Grace Embretson led Benton in kills with nine, assists with 10 and digs with five.
