JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — The Iowa Wesleyan women’s golf team played in its postseason conference tournament this week and freshman standout Teresa Diez Dorta made a big statement.
Diez Dorta finished the tournament in a tie for fourth place, leading the Tigers to a ninth-place finish as a team. She also took home SLIAC Newcomer of the Year honors for her troubles.
Diez Dorta shot an 80 on Monday, tying for fifth individually after day one. On Tuesday, she shot a 78 to finish out at 158, settling her in with Lake Forest College’s Amanda Lee for fourth.
As a team, IW shot a 792. Claire Hanson finished at 206. Michal Wohlleber shot 209. Maddie Calease ended at 221, and Allie Massner shot 223.
Grinnell College won the SLIAC team tournament with a final tally of 651. The top overall golfer was Grinnell’s Nina Kouchi, who shot a 153.
