FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield volleyball team gave out its end-of-year awards for the 2019 season over the weekend to cap off the year. Six different players received plaques.
Senior setter Lily Hoskins was given the team’s MVP award. She dished out 443 assists on the year and dug out 135 kill attempts. Hoskins was also one of the top servers on the team, finishing the year with a .957 serve efficiency and 15 aces.
The Best Offensive Player award was given to junior hitter Olivia Jones. She led the squad with 155 kills, the only Trojan to surpass the 100 kills mark. Jones also had a team-leading 42 total blocks, as well as 25 aces.
Senior libero Olivia McClaran received two awards. She took home Best Defensive Player honors, as well as the Hustle Award. McClaran led the team in digs by a wide margin, scooping up 331 of them. She was the team-leader in aces, with 27.
Ellie Anderson and Callie Ledger were both given Most Improved Player awards. Anderson, a sophomore, had 42 kills this season, and Ledger, a senior, finished the year with 28 digs.
The 2019 Spirit Award was given to another senior, Gracee Lisk. She had 16 digs and four aces on the season.
The Trojans went 8-27 overall this season and 4-6 in Southeast Conferene play. They finished third at the SEC tournament, finishing behind Burlington and Ft. Madison.
