BELLE PLAINE — The Keota softball team had trouble containing the Belle Plaine offense in Wednesday’s South Iowa Cedar League road trip. The Eagles gave up seven runs in the first two innings of the game and eventually faltered 9-2.
The Eagles held a 1-0 lead after striking first blood in the top of the first. The Plainsmen responded with five in the first and two in the second to take a 7-1 lead.
Keota’s only other run of the game came in the third inning, which cut the Belle Plaine advantage to five, at 7-2. The Plainsmen put up two insurance runs in the fourth frame.
