In another stunning turn in the Coronavirus saga, the National Collegiate Athletic Association has cancelled all winter and spring sports championships for the 2019-20 school year.
Included in the NCAA’s announcement was not only the basketball and wrestling tournaments, which were set to begin this weekend on a Division 1 level, but also college baseball and college softball.
Iowa Wesleyan continued to play their baseball and softball games on Thursday, but the school will be postponing their athletic teams until April 4.
The announcement from the NCAA may not only spell the end for the Tiger baseball and softball teams. The domino effect may also wreak havoc in the upcoming high school spring sports schedule. Several indoor track and field meets have already been cancelled.
The Union will have further updates on the cancellations as they continue to play out.
