No. 15 W-MU stays red hot in Columbus

COLUMBUS — The 15th-ranked Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team has now won 10 of its last 12 games. The Wolves stayed red-hot on Tuesday night, sweeping Columbus 25-18, 25-13 and 25-8.

Jenna Buffington continued to dominate in front of the net. She finished the night with 21 kills in 39 attempts for a .462 kill effeciency. She also finished second on the team in digs (seven), blocks (two) and aces (four).

Melina Oepping had a big night as well. She finished the day with eight kills and three blocks.

Kayla Edwards finished the night with 27 assists. Kyndal Townsley had 17 digs, and also led the squad with seven aces.

Kayla Beenan and Victoria Howell co-led Columbus with three kills apiece. Beenen led the defense with nine digs.

Taylor Howell had eight assists for the Wildcats. Kylee Wheeler finished the night with eight digs.

W-MU is now 11-3 overall and 3-0 in the SEISC North Division. They’ll host Highland on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Columbus fell to 3-11 with the loss. They’ll look to pick up their first North Division win on Thursday when they host Mediapolis.
