Panther girls go quietly in West Burlington

WEST BURLINGTON — It was a caldron of bad mojo for the Mt. Pleasant softball team on Monday night. The Panthers were playing on the road, against a tough West Burlington squad, and without starting pitcher Sydni Coleman, who is out with a leg injury. The end result was a 15-0 loss in three innings.

West Burlington scored three runs in the first inning and 12 in the second to wipe out the Panthers. Falcon freshman Lauren Summers threw a three-inning no-hitter.

The Panthers have now lost four straight after a big win over then-ranked Winfield-Mt. Union last week. The Panthers have a short break before returning to action in the postseason.

Mt. Pleasant (4-17) will play their postseason opener at Burlington on Thursday. They will take on a Grayhound team that is now ranked No. 14 in Class 4A.
