NEW LONDON — One night after falling to Winfield-Mt. Union in the season opener, the New London girls basketball team had a major bounce back against Davis County. The Tigers stifled the Mustangs 44-26 in a nonconference home game.
New London never lost a quarter. The Tigers led 12-4 after one quarter, 21-12 at halftime and 33-21 after three periods.
Senior Marah Hartrick led the Tigers in points. New London’s lone senior scored 18 points to pace the team.
Sophomore post Keaura Williams went off for New London in just her second high school game. She filled the stat sheet with 12 pointsn, 24 rebounds and six blocks.
It was New London’s first win of the year, and the first win for new head coach Aimee Iverson. The Tigers moved to 1-1 on the season.
The Tigers will be back on their home court on Tuesday night. New London will host Holy Trinity in its Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division opener.
