The Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association have Union individuals in the top four spots of the Class 2A girls rankings that were released Tuesday.

The team rankings came out Wednesday and there were six area teams ranked, three schools with both genders’ teams.

Mid-Prairie team members count for a sixth of Week 7’s 2A top 30 girls.

There are five Golden Hawks in the top 26 with freshman Abby Fleming holding down that spot. Twin sisters Jaden Yoder and Sydney Yoder are second and third behind teammate Danielle Hostetler at No. 1. Addison Parrott of Danville-New London is fourth. Another Golden Hawk, Mitzi Evans, entered the rankings at No. 11 last week and is at 11 now.

Williamsburg’s Ruth Jennings dropped from third to fifth and her Raider teammates that were at Nos. 18, 19, and 23 last week are missing someone because only 20 and 28 are Raiders.

Washington junior Lance Sobaski was ranked for the first time two weeks ago at No. 27 in Class 3A, then No. 28, but now he is out.

Brady Millikin of Pekin broke his No. 7 position in Class 1A, where he settled for three consecutive weeks, and is at No.6.

Pekin’s Lauren Steigleder is No. 27, Lauren Dersheid is 19 and Lily Fariss is at 10 this week.

In Class 2A boys, Danville-New London’s Ty Carr and teammate Alexander Julian are Nos. 6 and 7 for the second week. Oliver Sowell has been in, then out repeatedly of the top 30 and re-enters at 27.

Mid-Prairie’s Thaddeus Shelter remained at No. 10 for the third week and teammate Jamison Stutzman stayed at 15 for the second week, but Chandler Hershberger dropped out from 19th.

In Wednesday’s release of the team rankings, Pekin maintained its position in both the girls (second for the sixth week) and boys (fifth) Class 1A ratings.

Mid-Prairie stayed in fifth while the Danville-New London boys team remained atop the Class 2A list, The D-NL girls entered at No. 13 two weeks ago and maintained that spot for a week but fell to 15 this week.

For the sixth consecutive week, Columbus is a team to watch.

For every week save one, Mid-Prairie’s girls are the top-ranked team in 2A.
