MANCHESTER — The Fairfield wrestling team competed in the Bob Murphy Invitational on Saturday, finishing 11th with 41 points. The Trojans had six wrestlers in action.
Fairfield’s top competitor was Peyton Cline, who finished fourth at 152 lbs. Cline won two matches on the day, beating Clinton’s Ashten Corbin 8-3 in the quarterfinals and winning an ultimate tiebreaker over West Delaware’s Isaac Fettkether.
The Trojans had three wrestlers take sixth place at their respective weight classes. Brecken Courtright took sixth at 120 lbs. Jonah Cooper was sixth at 126 lbs., and Cohyn Roach placed sixth at 132 lbs.
Caleb Heisel took seventh place at 160 lbs. The Trojans’ only other competitor was Logan Adam at 145 lbs. He won a match in the first round but did not place in his bracket.
Fairfield will be at Washington on Thursday, Dec. 12, when they hit the road to take on the Demons.
