Trojans go 0-4 at Liberty tournament

IOWA CITY — The Fairfield volleyball team went 0-4 in the Iowa City Liberty tournament over the weekend. Fairfield was swept by Center Point-Urbana (21-17, 21-10) Solon (21-19, 21-19), Fort Madison 21-10, 21-19) Iowa City West (22-20, 21-13).

“We played well today,” said head coach Diana Drish. “Great close matches against 5A schools.”

Olivia Jones led the squad with 17 total kills in the team’s four matches. Anna Dunlap had 15 kills. Ellie Anderson tallied 10 kills, and Macy Rayburn had 9.

Maddie Jones dished out 33 assists and also went 28-for-28 form the service line. Brynley Allison added 20 assists. Kiya Robertson finished with a team-leading 22 kills.

Fairfield’s blocks leader was Rayburn, who tallied four. Anderson ended the day with three, and Jones had two.

Danielle Breen went 23-for-24 from the service line and also coled the team with two aces. Anderson was 16-for-16 and Rayburn went 15-for-16 with two aces.

Fairfield is now 4-14 overall. They will put their 1-2 Southeast Conference record on the line tonight (Tuesday) against both Burlington and Keokuk. Those games will be played at Keokuk High School.
