WILLIAMSBURG — Fairfield High School’s girls swimming team placed fifth Monday at the Williamsburg Invite.
“We didn’t swim our best, but that happens,” Trojans head coach Brittany Winslow said.
Fairfield’s Willow Larsen was the victor in two races, winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 2.55 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 57.73 seconds.
The 200 medley of Westphal, Larsen, Grace Sobaski and Clare Else was sixth in 2:32.21. The 400 free medley was fourth with Westphal, Sobaski, Else and Larsen in 4:48.62. The relay team of Viola Welsh, Lilly Huff, Ella Wiegert and Westphal was eighth in the 200 freestyle in 2:25.54.
Sobaski was fourth in the 200 free in 2:34.92. Else was ninth in the 200 IM in 3:17.12 and 10th in the 50 free at 36.36.
Two Trojans achieved personal best times with Emma Sanner in the 100 free and Anna Westphal in the 100 back.
“We are going to buckle down and focus on getting our yards in,” Winslow said. “We will work on little details to our races so we can finish strong.”
The Trojans have two meets before the Regionals.
