Van Buren baseball drops 24 runs

DANVILLE — Van Buren County baseball absolutely blistered the ball on Thursday in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division matchup at Danville. The Warriors pounded the Beras 24-6 in six innings.

The bats were hot through the first half of the game, and Van Buren held an 8-2 lead after the fourth inning, but things really started to pick up in their last two at-bats. The Warriors put up 16 runs over their final two offensive half-innings, plating six in the fifth and 10 in the sixth.

Tony Davidson led the way, going an incredible 5-for-5 with two doubles, six RBIs and four runs scored. Treyton Bainbridge was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

Ryan Wolf went an almost-perfect 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored int he win. Casey Yochum was 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Jonah Heckenberg went 1-for-1 with two RRBIs. Tommy Adkins was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Taylor Sprouse went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Jackson Manning and Dylan Richardson each knocked in a run as well.

Manning and Yochum split innings on the mound. Manning gave up four runs (two earned) on four hits over three frames. Yochum gave up two unearned runs on two hits, three walks and one hit batter. Each pitcher struck out three Danville batters, and Yochum earned the win.
