WACO competes at Redhawk Invite

NORTH TAMA — The WACO wrestling team traveled to North Tama for the Redhawk Invitational on Saturday and four wrestlers finished in the top four.

WACO picked up a first place finish from Jalen Collins at 126 lbs. Collins had three pins on the day, finishing his bracket with a pin against Collins-Maxwell’s Clayton Leslie with just two seconds remaining in the first period.

Two Warriors finished in third place. Ryan Maschmann took the bronze at 132 lbs., and Isaiah Johnson took third in 195 lbs.

Maschmann went 1-2 on the day. He beat Collins-Maxwell’s Joseph Butcher 3-1 in the first round but then fell in his next two matches. Johnson lost two matches before picking up a pin in his final bout against Baxter’s Jackson Bottorff.

Noah Conley took fourth at 285 lbs. He wrestled just two matches due to getting a bye, but did pick up one pin, taking out North Tama’s Clayton Boldt in 1:18.

Other WACO wrestlers who competed at the Invite were Dalton Provino (152 lbs.) and Landon Provino (220 lbs.). Neither wrestler placed.
