WACO girls knocked at Notre Dame

BURLINGTON — The WACO girls ran into a buzz saw in one-loss Notre Dame on Tuesday night. The Nikes eliminated the Warriors from the Class 1A Region 5 tournament, 72-30.

Notre Dame put up points early and often. The Nikes led 25-6 after one quarter and 41-30 at halftime. WACO scored just nine points in the second half, as the Nikes ran away with the victory.

Ellah Kissell scored 13 points to lead WACO in the loss. Morgan Graber added 10 points. Molly McLaughlin scored five, and Katie Leichty finished with two.

Notre Dame was led by a 17-point output from Karli Artman.

WACO finished the season at 8-13. Notre Dame (18-1) will travel to 18-0 Winfield-Mt. Union for Friday’s semifinals.
