WACO tumbles against top team

TROY MILLS — The top-ranked team in Class 1A was too much for the WACO boys basketball team on Monday night.

On a night that celebrated the career of former WACO coach and current North Linn co-coach Bob Hilmer, the winningest coach in Iowa high school basketball history, No. 1 North Linn thumped the Warriors 82-28.

North Linn led 28-5 after the first quarter, 50-10 at halftime and 67-18 en route to its 13th win in a row to start the season.

Will Edeker led WACO with 11 points, including htree made 3-pointers. Simeon Reichenbach scored 10. Jacob Eichelberger scored three, and both Zach Schmitz and Vincent Jones finished with two.
