FT. MADISON — Freshman pitcher Ally Cambell threw a gem for the Van Buren County softball team on Monday night, and the Warrior offense did plenty to support her. Van Buren beat Holy Trinity 8-1 on the Crusaders’ home field.

Cambell kept Crusader hitters on their heels all night long. She threw a complete game, giving up one earned runs on five hits and struck out seven Holy Trinity batters.

All six of the Warriors’ RBIs were by the top three hitters in the lineup. Isabel Manning went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and a homerun, her second of the season. Lexi Jirak went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Chelsey Huff was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Annabell Cormier also had a multi-hit game for Van Buren. She went 2-for-4 with two singles.

The Warriors are now 5-4 overall this season. They sit at 1-3 in conference play and are slated to host Cardinal on Friday night.
