In a home SEISC North Division softball game Thursday against Mediapolis, the Wildcats scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning after the visitors scored once in the top of the eighth.
The 12-11 win gave Columbus its third win this year.
Lela Fort went 3 of 4 for the Wildcats. Emma Milder threw six innings with three strikeouts and Libby White threw two innings with three strikeouts. Quinn Scarf and Julie Sosa batted in three runs apiece.
Columbus hosts Pekin Monday.
No. 3 (Class 3A) Louisa-Muscatine 16, Highland 4
At home, the Huskies tied the game at 3-3 in the third inning, but five errors and 21 L-M hits led to the loss.
Dani Laughlin went 4 of 4 for half of the Huskies hits.
Highland is 8-6 and hosts Lone Tree today after defeating the Lions Tuesday 12-0.
Megan Hoenig had five strikeouts in Tuesday’s game with no walks and six hits. Abbie Miller clouted a home run and a double for her five RBI. Emily Yahnke and Sarah Schneider each had two hits.
Lone Tree 10&16, Iowa Mennonite 0&4
IMS lost the North doubleheader at home.
Rubye Ney had a single and a double in the shutout. Mia Graber had a single and a double in the four-run game.
IMS (0-11) hosts Central Lee today.
The visitors from Fairfield won 9-1, then lost 3-2 Wednesday.
Cassidy Rourke’s homer accounted for the only run in the loss.
Myah Lugar gave up four hits and no earned runs in the win. Rylee Vercande batted in two runs and Kendra Schaefer one.
The Hawks (5-12) play at West Branch Monday.

IMS swept a home doubleheader Thursday. Both games went five innings.
Trevor Leyden threw a 3-hitter with seven Ks and no walks and one run. Eli Ours and Blake Bontrager each went 3 for 4 with three RBI.
Ours gave up two runs with nine Ks, three walks and just one earned run. London Schrock was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBI.
