MEDIAPOLIS – The Winfield-Mt. Union boys basketball team failed to complete a season sweep over Mediapolis on Tuesday night, falling 57-43 in their final Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division game of the year.
The Wolves led 11-9 after one quarter, but Mediapolis scored 20 in the second period to take a 29-20 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs led 40-33 after three quarters and used a 17-0 fourth quarter to run away with the win.
Daunte Oepping had a team-leading 12 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots in the loss. Jared Arnold scored 10 points to give the Wolves two double-digit scorers.
Ty Yocum scored seven points. Christian Gerot had six. Bryce Wade had four. Juanito Piper had two points nad six assists, and Dawson Bergthold finished with two points.
W-MU (5-15) will end the regular season on Friday night at West Burlington.
