WINFIELD — The Winfield-Mt. Union volleyball team remained perfect in conference play on Thursday. The Wolves scored a dominating three-set win over Louisa-Muscatine, frying the Falcons 25-9, 25-10 and 25-17, to set up an epic showdown tonight (Tuesday) against Mediapolis for the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division championship.

Jenna Buffington poured in 16 kills against the Falcons in W-MU’s big win on Thursday. Keely Malone dished out 18 assists. Madie Anderson finished with four blocks, and Keetyn Townsley led the team with 11 digs.

The Wolves also had an insane day serving the ball, scoring 17 aces over the three sets. Melina Oepping had eight aces on the night. Buffington finished with six. Jami Wilkerson had two, and Townsley finished with one.

Along with being 20-6 overall, the Wolves are now 7-0 in the North Division. W-MU will not face its toughest North Division test yet when they take on a Mediapolis team that has a 7-17 overall record this year, but is 7-0 in the conference.

The Wolves and Bullettes will meet at 7:30 p.m. The winner will be a perfect 8-0 and take home the North Division crowd.
