Washington community dinner goes to delivery, carryout

The third annual Community Christmas Dinner in Washington will be carryout and delivery this year.

Washington First Assembly of God first started the dinner because the Church of God was unable to do a Christmas dinner anymore.

The first year the churches partnered and served around 200 meals.

Each year the dinner brings around 300 people to the church for dinner.

A variety of businesses, farmers and other churches have donated to the dinner in the past.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dinner has been modified to still serve the community.

Community members can call 319-458-0555 and leave their name, specify deliver or carryout, the address, phone number and number of meals.

Reservations will be accepted until Dec. 18.

The dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas.

The church is looking for volunteers. Those interested can call 319-653-3749.
