Organizers of a community garden that quietly launched in Washington last year reported its growth to the city council last week, and updated municipal officials on their plans for the future at a meeting Jan. 7.

Artists around Wellman are asked this month to drop off petite paintings and small sculptures for an upcoming “tiny art display.”

The utility tentatively plans to extend an underground natural gas pipeline between Hills and Riverside into Iowa City and rural Ainsworth, according to documents the company shared with the Iowa Utilities Commission. A public information meeting on the project is expected in late February.
