Leslie Bailey, owner and founder of Boho Bailey, decided to relocate from Winfield to Washington for more opportunity and foot traffic following COVID-19.
Boho Bailey is located at 215 S. Iowa Ave., the former H & R block location, and offers gifts and women’s clothing for preteens to senior citizens.
“We are expanding our audience now, we’re carrying juniors,” Bailey said. “Basically we go from 11 to 99, really. We have a few men’s items and a few gifts and we’ll always expand those sections around the holidays, but mostly from really young women to as old as you can get.”
Graphic T’s are designed and printed within the shop and remaining clothing items such as denim and sweaters are bought from wholesalers. This allows Boho Bailey to sell products unique to its business while remaining prevalent with popular clothing items.
Boho Bailey was first established as an online business in 2015, and Bailey owned a combined warehouse and storefront in Winfield.
Residing in Crawfordsville, Bailey decided to make the move to Washington based upon factors such as foot traffic and opportunity, and after looking at storefronts in both Mt. Pleasant and Washington, determined Washington would be Boho Bailey’s new home.
“I knew when COVID was over I wanted to open a storefront in a busier traffic area,” Bailey said. “ … Washington just had more opportunities, more spaces available for storefronts.”
A grand opening took place June 19 and the response has been “really great,’’ according to Bailey, adding that most customers are locals and appreciate the benefit of using a fitting room that now comes with a storefront compared to an online shop.
Boho Bailey is one of a select few gift and women’s clothing retailers in the Washington Square area, hoping to thrive with local customers.
“I’ve always been an entrepreneur, and I guess it just takes a certain kind of personality,” Bailey said. “I guess I’m just one of those people who’s not afraid to take risks and put myself out there.”
In addition to clothing items for women ages 11-99, Boho Bailey sells gifts and accessories for women of these ages as well.
Established as an online shop in 2015, Leslie Bailey opened a storefront in Washington Square post-COVID, for an increase in foot traffic.
Mugs, wax melts, candles and home decor are among the gifts and accessories sold at Boho Bailey.
