The Riverside City Council failed to pass a resolution to give the Riverside Area Community Club (RACC) $6,000 in hotel/motel tax funds. If the $9.5 million bond for the school passes, residents in the Washington School District will pay about $2 more per $1,000 valuation on their property taxes. The Washington City Council received bids for its new sewer plant Wednesday and was glad to learn the lowest bid was 9 percent below the estimated cost of the project. The city received seven bids, the lowest of which was from Gridor Construction, which offered to construct the sewer plant for about $15 million. The Washington Sanitation Committee has proposed charging residents for the sofas they dispose of.
